What is the difference between Game boy Advance and Game boy Advance SP?

My nine-year-old sister wants a Gameboy Advance for her birthday and we can't decide which one is better, SP or the regular Gameboy advance. I know the SP is more expensive, but what is the big difference, other than that it is more portable?

Also, where is a good place to get one for cheap?

What is the difference between Game boy Advance and Game boy Advance SP?
The only differences are the way they are designed, the SP also has a backlight, which helps ALOT!

The normal one uses AA batteries but the SP has a built in rechargeable.

I would have to recommend the SP.
Reply:Well the difference is that%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

the advance doesnt flip over and so the screen is not protected when not in use.

ALso the SP has a backlight so you can play in the dark without and lights or anything.

the SP has a recharable battery so you will probablly never have to buy batteries.

the SP plays Gameboy Advance games and So does the GBA they both play the same games...

get one at Walmart or look around on ebay!!!

Hope this helps
Reply:The gameboy advance SP is much better. It has a backlit screen which is able to be turned off any time during gameplay, as there is a small button on it. It folds down for easy storage. But, if you were going to buy her one, I would actually suggest buying her a Nintendo DS. They are a much better deal and they are able to play all types of games, including games from the gameboy advance (SP). But of the two I would definately buy the SP version. It is much more durable and will last longer, and you can play it in the dark.

But the Nintendo DS is a much better deal. I am an electronics tester and the nintendo DS was much better than the gameboy advance or the SP. It even worked better than the newer versions, the DS lite and the DS drk. It tops about $100 and you can also buy it used at E.B. Games or Gamestop. Hope that helped. Wish your sister happy birthday for me!
Reply:Okay, the SP is the newer version of the game boy. And the screen thing is lighter. And the SP you could fold. Basically the SP is better you could play the same games as game boy. The game boy has a darker screen. And you cant fold it to go. But it is wide and you could take it to go. You can get a cheap game boy in game stop and a SP in game crazy. Hope this helped you !
Reply:just basically the way they look
Reply:Game boy advance sp has backlight screen and battery (game boy advance doesnt have)then... they changed the design.

game boy advance sp is similar to micro, but micro screen is brighter and its the smaller handheld out there... i think u can get a micro for like 30 dollars or something...

If u want to make a good investment for ur sister, u can buy her a Nintendo DS or a Nintendo DS lite. U can get the regular DS at 90 dollars and the Nintendo DS lite at 130. The main difference between Ds and DS lite is that lite is a smaller version, the battery lasts longer and the screen is brighter.

Nintendo DS features 3 D games, can play Gameboy Advance games, has a touch screen, has a wifi connector, has a microphone.

U can buy Nintendo DS or gameboy advance at EB games (used and new) and at Bestbuy.
Reply:There are three types of Game Boy Advance.

Game Boy Advance - The original weird-shaped one. Not sure if Nintendo's still manufacturing them.

Game Boy SP - The clamshell one. It looks sort of like the DS. It's more expensive because it's the one most in demand.

Game Boy Micro - It's not a clamshell, but it's not the original either. It's shaped like a rectangle, except the top and bottom are curved. The "A" and "B" buttons are bigger, it looks sleeker, and different plating is available so you can change your Micro's look. It's the most expensive, but the least in demand, as it's been beaten out hype-wise by the DS.

As for cheap Game Boys, search Froogle. Froogle is a spin-off of Google which searches the Internet for low prices on anything.
Reply:Well my son had both, I would go with the SP. Just because they really are not making that many GB Advance Games anymore. You can go to a store like Game Stop or EB Games or any of the Games places that sell them and you can buy one that has been traded in. They will usually be cheaper and they will also sell you a warranty for a year for only a few bucks so that if something happens to it they will replace it. Hope that helps
Reply:get her the sp.the sp wont hurt her eyes so bad, because i have both, so, the sp is better because it is so much brighter, but its not to bright , so, yeah i suck at explaining things
